ICAPis the institution of the Central American Integration System (SICA), specialized in the education and training of human talent that works in national and regional institutions.

It is the second oldest institution of SICA, created in 1954, within the framework of the Organization of Central American States (OCAS – ODECA in spanish) to support, at that time, the economic integration efforts through specialized cadres in the topic. This collaboration was extended to different areas of the regional integration process.

Support for Central American Integration

The Institute supports integration efforts through academic and training activities, framed in various cooperation initiatives and technical assistance programs, which are aligned with the priorities established by the Central American Presidents in 2010 for the creation of a regional agenda.

Integration Pillars

  • Social integration
  • Democratic security
  • Prevention and mitigation of natural disasters and the effects of climate change
  • Institutional strengthening
  • Economic integration

ICAP also provides support to the public sector of Central America and to regional institutions, in their evolution towards greater and better management practices. This is done through the development of research on issues of interest to Central American integration, extension activities and the implementation of consulting and advisory programs.
